New Partnership with The Birth Story Collective

Doulas of ATL is excited to announce a new partnership with The Birth Story Collective! This amazing group of photographers, filmmakers, and mothers has had our eye for some time with their gorgeous work gracing our Instagram feeds. As your doulas, we are honored to witness and support your birth experience, often snapping pics on our iPhones best we can - but y’all, we are by no means professional photographers! Which is why we’re so pumped to offer a mutual discount to our clients through partnering with Chanda, Brittany, and Claire.

Discounted rates for Doulas of ATL and The Birth Story Collective shared clients include 10% off Birth Doula Support with Doulas of ATL and one of the following with The Collective: $150 off a Birth Story Collection I (photo OR video), $200 off a Birth Story Collection II (photo AND video), or 10% off any Fresh48 session.

In addition to the quality of their work, we were most drawn to their partnership model - you know we love keeping birthwork sustainable - and these gals get that community over competition is where it’s at!

Please meet the talented team of The Birth Story Collective 💜

Hi there!

Chanda, Brittany and Claire here! Together we are The Birth Story Collective; a collective of photographers and filmmakers passionate about documenting authentic birth stories in Atlanta.

As individuals we’ve been a part of the Atlanta birth community for more than a decade but in 2018 we decided to come together, shifting to a shared call model, to form The Collective. Similar to Doulas of ATL, we knew that in coming together and fostering a sense of community over competition we would be able to support each other and our clients in a more sustainable way, enabling us to provide the most consistent, authentic and beautiful birth photography experience in Atlanta.

For the past 6 years, part of that experience included offering doula services in addition to photo and video. After some tough moments of self reflection, we decided it was best for us as a group to step back from doula work and really lean into the film and photography side of our business. It was not an easy decision to make, but as the saying goes, “You have to water the flowers you want to grow.”.

In order to shift our focus we knew that we needed to find someone (or ideally another group) we trusted, who would take care of our clients in the same way we would. Doulas who would offer judgment free support, love and encouragement in a variety of settings, doulas that felt like someone we would want at our births. We needed a unicorn and by the grace of whatever good energy we have put out into this world, we found a group of them!

Six years ago we took a chance when we formed The Collective, betting on community over competition. This year we went all in on growing that community and are so excited that this leap of faith has landed us in a beautiful partnership with Doulas of ATL!

CHANDA

“I fell in love with birth photography after witnessing the intense strength and beauty of birthing women and the amount of love in a birthing room. When I was with doula clients I thought, “She should see this.”.

BRITTANY

“I thought that I was going to be one of those women who loved being pregnant, you know the kind that “glow because they have life growing inside them”. That was NOT me! My first pregnancy was miserable. I gained over 80 lbs and as someone who can freely admit to being vain, it was not a great time in my mental health journey. When a friend of mine offered to photograph my birth I was extremely hesitant but ultimately agreed. Despite everything, those pictures are everything. Seeing my birth photos stirred something inside me; I practically begged everyone I knew who was expecting to let me into their delivery room and one of my wedding photography clients graciously allowed me to join her for the birth of her daughter. Being in the birthing room is intoxicating; witnessing and documenting the moment that the veil between this world and the next drops, when a mother leaves her body to bring her baby back into this world with her, there isn’t much that can top that.”

CLAIRE

As a teen I fell in love with photography and continued on to study it as an adult in college. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts, started a business photographing families when not long after I became captivated by a birth photographers work I randomly came across on Facebook. Soon after I was offering this as a service myself. Through the many years that followed I became a major birth nerd, a doula, and then finally a mother myself. The passion for and perspective of capturing the wonder that is birth has only grown with each other these different hats I have worn!
